Pre - Red Deros Match
Portu-Goal Scorers

The hottest ticket in town - the Portu-Goal Scorers vs. the Red Deros. Read the most up to date info on both teams before the match.

SYDNEY, 21st October (REUTERS) This time last year, a small, yet ambitious group of athletes had just started out on a campaign in hope of much success, and North Rocks Indoor Centre glory. Despite forming a strong connection of many skillful and talented players, they were to fall short in the semi final. The Red Deros were born.

A lot can happen in a year though, and despite their training and hard work in the off-season, the vision of holding the trophy in their hands seems further than ever. Inspired by the Deros, another group of athletes burst onto the Indoor Soccer scene, and despite a less than glittering win/loss record, they are coming together at exactly the right time and appear to be the Deros' biggest challenge yet. They are of course - the Portu-Goal Scorers.

The Portu-Goal Scorers are a new phenomenon in Indoor Soccer; whose flair, and undeniable ability leaves onlookers breathless at the end of every game. Readers may now question, "How so? Look at their record. They've lost as many as they've won. How do you expect me to believe they will challenge last years finalists?" Very astute question you ask, and I will now answer. Anyone who saw those games in question will be able to agree with me when I say the P-GS were, without a doubt, in control the whole game - and would have come out with the wins if not for some extenuating circumstances beyond their control. Players missing, inexperience, the Scorers have faced it all and come through all the more better for it.

The Deros must hope the P-GS face similar difficulties come Saturday, as it would seem at full strength, the likes of Kunz, Jang and Lam will tear them apart. But who exactly is them?

Reports have been linked to the Deros calling up various well-known soccer superstars (namely Cypriot International, Christopher Michaelides, and one time Scorer, Michael Chin), to come play for them in this big match-up. This move would not only be one of cowardice, but unethical and illegal. I remind the Deros all players must be registered to play, and Michaelides certainly isn't. Obviously Chin is, but by using him it is like saying to us, "Yes. We are nowhere near as good as you, and must resort to bringing in new players to strengthen our squad, purely so we do not get annihilated." Furthermore, it also communicates to the general public, "Sorry if you are trying to support us, we know it cannot be easy seeing how bad we are. Jack Lee has talked in our website's Guestbook about Fitzy sucking men's p*n*s, but the truth is, we all suck, and the Portu-Goal Scorers are unbelievably fantastic and brilliant and wonderful - we encourage you to support them." That encouragement would most probably be the smartest comment made by any of the Deros, and is definitely good advice.

The Scorers are incredibly keen for this match, and declined to comment to this reporter due to their pre-game focus routine. One man who could comment though was Australian Prime Minister, John Howard. "It is my pleasure to be able to say, despite their name, the Portu-Goal Scorers are Australian. They encompass everything about Australia that we aim for, or are proud to be. Such as multicultural, or just bloody awesome at soccer!" At his point, the honourable Mr. Howard burst out into tears rambling on about how disappointed he was to be cut from the Scorers team at their open try outs earlier this year. He did finish though by saying, "The Deros however can be more likened to a rogue state such as Nth Korea. Uncoordinated in attack, overpowered in defense, and generally disliked by everyone. And if anyone can be likened to the unpopular Nth Korean leader, it would be Matthew Fitzpatrick. Not because he has any power, just because it is easier to find a small baby with a breast on his/her head, than it is to find someone who appreciate Fitz's jokes."

What is no joke however is the fact that despite already knowing the winner of Saturday's game, it should be a cracker, and one to go down in the annals of history. I've already booked my seat, have you?
