Rivalries
Portu-Goal Scorers

All big clubs have their rivals. The teams that attempt to emulate their success, talent, and support. The P-GS are no different.

The Red Deros
The Deros; the Hills area's other premiere team has a lot of good qualities. Hailing mostly from the same educative system as the Scorers, the foundation for their respective soccer careers are very similar to the P-GS,  and in this way, most of the boys from both teams are good friends. The Deros have frequently loaned out players when the P-GS have been short, especially throughout the first weeks of the season.

However, this is a competition, and we must be competitive - so once on the field, the friendships stop - and rivalry begins. If you can really call it a 'rivalry,' because, skill and talent wise - the two teams are quite far apart.

P-GS powerhouse, Brendan Lam transfered away from the Deros this season in a move that has held him in high regard by analysts, who realise a team on the down, and a team on the rise when they see them.

Although the P-GS have gotten off to a relatively slow start, it is early days and a true test of character will be displayed when the 'Selective School Soccer,' (as the two sides' style has been called,) will be put on show.

The Deros may look like a strong unit, in their 'Cougar' brand uniforms, and their professional style website - but when it comes to ability, they really are Deros. A quick scan of the Dictionary will help one understand what this truly means. Dero is, of course, the colloquial for 'Derelict.' This slang shows the group as lazy, reflecting in their attitude and style of play. Some meanings of the word include,

"Lost; adrift; hence, wanting; careless; neglectful; unfaithful. Given up or forsaken by the natural owner or guardian; left and abandoned."

Are these the description of a strong team? A team of winners? It is all well and good to say "It's not about winning," but that attitude will only take you so far.

I say support the team of Scorers. The team of strength, unity, and unendingly amazing ability. Support the Portu-Goal Scorers.
